Permission to Bloom πππΊ
As I write this from the comfort of my warm room, the wind is ferocious and the rain comes down hard. This wind is wild. It stirs up a lot of energy, a lot of feelings. Thereβs so much going on in the world around us and in our own domains. Many and most us of are going through physical, mental and emotional challenges. I think it is important to remember we are all in it together, strength in numbers, we are gifted with each other. And then, we are heading into spring and the rain brings the flowers. Be sure to take time to smell the flowers. The end of this month brings a time of new beginnings, renewal, revisioning, rebirth with the Spring Equinox.
The eight week Technique class started in Playa Vista last week with a terrific group of actors in the room and working together. Even though we got through the top layer of the foundational techniques in the one day workshop, the 8 week intensive is really where you get to hone in on each technique for yourself. During this time together you will move the techniques from a logical brain understanding to physical knowing and embodiment. Teaching is my joy, and experiencing people learning and understanding how to work, how to be present with each other and connected with each other is a beautiful and touching experience. When we are seen and heard, the connection brings infinite reassurance that we are all in this together. Thank you all for trusting me to guide you through this as your teacher and coach.
Scene study continues in Koreatown and we are working on contemporary scenes from the great playwrights like Arthur Miller, David Mamet, Suzan-Lori Parks, Theresa Rebeck and George F. Walker. And last but not least, back by popular demand, we will be back in the room this month for an in-person Moment 2 Moment class on Tuesday March 14th at 11am. Letβs see each other soon!
Love,
Iris
