The Truth of the Human Condition π½π«π
I have always known this about myself, that it is hard for me to share out loud, on the page, and yet here I am, sharing my insights, inspirations, and things that move me with you every month through this newsletter! I appreciate you taking your time to read here, see what I have to say, and stay connected. In the end, inspiration comes to us through connection; to each other, to music, to the landscapes and to infinity.

βLady Gaga posted a deeply tender tribute to Tony Bennett. It made me aware of how words shared, so personal, insightful and loving, are generous and can give us so much from simply being shared out loud. Iβm grateful for it... Sinead OβConnorβs passing reminds us to stand up for what needs our voice and to share love and care by being loving and caring.

Strikes are strong and steady. There are interim agreements which give permission to work on shows that have signed onto them, as well as permission to work on commercials without crossing the picket line, as the contracts are different. Actors and writers are walking the line to get what is required and rightly deserved. Itβs a relief to come to class and simply get present and be with class. Community, art, performance, connection, work, play, tears and laughter of loss and tears of joy, all appear as we enter the room until we depart. It is wonderful to commune with each other. There is an intimacy that happens in our classes. It is a safe space and we are all in the same boat. That safety affords the actor the opportunity to fall down, stand tall, take chances, risks, and soar. Letβs take these moments to see and know each other, especially when everything around us is pointing towards slowing down and reevaluating whatβs important.

We are in volatile and derisive times. Actors, Writers and Directors are gifts to humanity that help to reveal the truth of the human condition. Writers get to create the gift, directors get to inspire the gift, and actors get to reveal the gift through their performance. What a healing journey for humankind to witness and experience. During this time of strikes, and the heat of summer, come into class. Dig a little deeper. Treat yourself to a one day intensive to expand your talent and technique or even simply your understanding of the acting craft. Or pop in for a moment 2 moment class on a Tuesday for connection and community. If you feel like challenging yourself with a fresh monologue or scene with a partner, then join us for the month in Scene Study. And if youβre ready to immerse yourself with 8 weeks of a full understanding of the Actorβs work, then join me for the technique class that starts this month.
